UNDATED (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The U.S. Labor Department says the unemployment rate fell in December to 8.5-percent, the lowest since February 2009.
There are still 5.6-million long-term unemployed workers says, Stephen Bronars, senior economist with Welch Consulting.
Frank Fantozzi, president of Planned Financial Services says that to have a positive impact on unemployment, the economy would need to add 200,000 jobs each month to really make a difference.
The good news is layoffs and new jobless claims have been trending down.
