UNIONDALE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Longtime state representative and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Jeff Espich announced Friday morning he will not seek re-election.

The Republican has served in the Statehouse since 1972, representing Allen, Wells and Grant counties.

Because the House district lines were re-drawn, Espich would have had to run against another Republican incumbent, Dan Leonard of Huntington.

Espich said other Republican incumbents in the area will continue to serve their constituents well, and said he and his wife will remain active in their Uniondale community.
