INDIANA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Former Indiana Governor Joe Kernan says someone forged his name on a petition to place President Barack Obama's name on the state's 2008 primary ballot.

Kernan says he supported Hillary Clinton during the primary and was adamant that he did not sign the Obama document.

The mayor of South Bend, whose name also appears on the petition, says his signature is fraudulent as well.

According to the South Bend Tribune, more than 40 people whose names appear on the petition deny ever signing the document.

The state Republican Party chairman is calling for a federal investigation into the matter.
