FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -The mayor's office is defending a recent decision to hire a lobbyist after some critics say the city council was told just 4 months ago there wouldn't be a need.
Mayor Tom Henry's office said the decision was made to hire a lobbying firm for $10,000 for a number of state issues relating to Fort Wayne and other urban cities.
A spokesman also presented us with a copy of Pat Roller's comments at an October city council meeting, which said, "While it's not in the budget now, it's hard to know what could happen at the state level."
The money used for the lobbyist came from the Administrative Budget.
Mayor Henry sent a notice to council members notifying them of the decision to hire the lobbying firm.
