(Indiana's NewsCenter) -- President Obama has rejected the Keystone XL Pipeline.
The pipeline, which would run from Canada and through the U.S., has been criticized by some environmentalists who are concerned over its potential impact.
Some business leaders welcome the pipeline saying it will create thousands of jobs and boost the economy.
Transcanada, which owns the pipeline, can reapply to build it on a different route.
Upon hearing the news, 3rd District Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement: “This administration chose to ignore bipartisanship and economic reality. The American people deserve better."
Indiana Senator Dan Coats also issued a statement along the same lines saying: "It is both irrational and disingenuous for an administration that claims its number one priority is jobs to block a project that would put thousands of Americans back to work."
