Vincennes, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Indiana's State Budget Committee is meeting again to discuss the $526 million in state tax revenue errors, but a complete audit of the problem will not occur soon.
Since last December, state workers have discovered a pair of massive tax errors that went unchecked for years at a time. Budget leaders are scheduled during a Monday meeting in Vincennes to sign off on a firm that will establish the scope of an external audit of the state's Department of Revenue.
However, this initial step might not be complete for another six weeks, with the audit starting after that.
Adam Horst, state budget director, also cautioned at the committee's April meeting that more errors will likely be uncovered but said he wasn't ready to disclose them.
