Congressman Mike Pence hosted a town hall style meeting on healthcare reform today in Bluffton.
Pence says he's seen a real diversity of opinion on healthcare, but says the majority of feedback he's received has been against government run healthcare.
Pence says his party knows change is needed, just not the change being proposed."I believe Republicans, like most Americans, know that we've got to take action to lower the cost of healthcare insurance and lower the cost of healthcare. We simply believe that we can do that without introducing a government run plan that will cause millions of Hoosiers to lose their health insurance and send us on a pathway to socialized medicine"
Some Democrats have used the word "mob" to describe some town hall protests and have pointed the finger at Republicans.
Mike Pence feels that time will show that these displays are a "movement" by the American public and not the work of his party or lobbyists.
He said public opinion is a force of nature in Washington. Pence is hoping that it will lead to compromise on healthcare reform when members of Congress return to Washington.
