Big Pay Out During Property Tax Sale

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Allen County had a record haul in back taxes from the sale of a north Fort Wayne apartment complex.

Four different parcels connected to the Coliseum Park Apartments sold during Wednesday's delinquent property tax sale for a total of more than $2.4 million.

Allen County Treasurer Susan Orth said, “(The tax sale) brought in taxes of $607,000. That's great."

Reporter: "Is that like a record?"

Orth: "It's a record. It's a huge benefit for the county."

Orth says the tax sale drew an abnormally large number of bidders on the roughly 1100 properties in which the owners had not paid their full tax bill.
