FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Democratic challenger for a Fort Wayne State Senate seat says he has some answers to boost childhood education.
Jack Morris wants to unseat long-time Republican State Senator Tom Wyss.
Wednesday morning, Morris said he would allow school corporations more flexibility to transfer money from capital projects funds to general funds.
And he wants education majors to teach in day care centers.
Morris says, “We could let teachers, prospective teachers work within these programs as interns, as part of helping them develop their careers. So we would have to first work within the private industry... begin to start funding it."
Morris says however it's paid for, it's too costly "not" to invest in early childhood education, saying the benefits include job creation, reduced costs for Welfare programs, and eventual increased income tax revenue.
