FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Voters across the third district have no incumbent to re-elect and this morning, the Democratic Nominee, Doctor Tom Hayhurst was among the first in line to cast his ballot.

He spent the rest of the day rallying volunteers to canvass voters in neighborhoods. Hayhurst himself will continue walking the streets.

He told us early this morning that he's committed to fighting for what's important for the area.

Hayhurst says, “We've tried to avoid getting wrapped up in some of the peripheral national issues that have been discussed along the way, and keep focused on the good jobs and a good future for northeast Indiana."

Hayhurst is expected at the Plumbers and Steamfitters Hall tonight, to watch election returns with the rest of the local Democratic Party.
