ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Two months after her election victory, Judge Wendy Davis is getting adjusted into her new role as Allen County Superior Court Judge.
The former-Deputy Prosecutor started Monday and has her first jury trial scheduled Tuesday.
Davis said there is a very steep learning curve for a Superior Court Judge, saying she's spent her first few days doing plenty of preparing and lots of listening to her fellow judges.
Judge Davis says, “ A previous judge has left off, the new judge walking in just kind of walks right into his/her shoes. There’s a lot of learning going on for me right now and a lot of just sitting back and really listening. Judges have a role to play but often times its their support staff and the other judges and that kind of thing that really make it easy to move forward, especially for a new judge.”
Judge Davis will work out of a temporary office for a few weeks.
The office used by her predecessor Judge Ken Scheibenberger is being renovated for the first time in decades.
