Senate Votes to Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

Washington, DC (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – United States Senators voted 65 to 31 Saturday to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’

For the first time in America, gays can openly serve in the military and acknowledge their sexual orientation, without fear of being kicked out.

President Obama praised the action, saying 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' undermines national security, and violates the ideals that members of the armed services risk their lives to defend.

Sen. John McCain led the opposition to the bill, predicting there will be a great cost.

McCain blamed elite liberals with no military experience for pushing their social agenda on troops during wartime.

The bill now goes to the president who is expected to sign it before the new year.
