WASHINGTON (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Senate plans to work through the weekend to pass a trillion dollar spending bill to keep the government running.
The problem is there is nearly 2,000 pages in the bill which contains $8 billion in earmarks and that has many Senators upset.
Some of the earmarks include $300,000 for the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii, $235,000 for noxious weed management in Nevada and $165,000 for maple syrup research in Vermont
There are at least three projects in the bill that will benefit Fort Wayne though.
Senator Richard Lugar has asked for $100,000 for outreach, screening and education for Burmese refugees, $150,000 will go to Manchester College's Fort Wayne campus for facilities and equipment and $2.4 million for a defense visual technology center connected to IPFW and the Fort Wayne Alliance.
