A.P. - ANAHEIM, Calif.—A newborn girl was found alive Monday in a bathroom trash can in a Denny's restaurant near Disneyland. An Indiana teen, touring the region, is believed to be the infant's mother. She is being held for questioning, police said.

A customer at the Denny's restaurant found the baby around noon and called 911. The newborn was taken to a hospital in good condition, then placed in protective custody, said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez.

Police at the scene saw a 17-year-old Indianapolis girl standing outside the restaurant with blood on her clothes. She denied giving birth, but police took her to the same hospital for an exam. The girl, who was with another teen believed to be her boyfriend, and his parents were being questioned by investigators, Martinez said. No arrests were made.

Indiana's NewsCenter is working to learn which Indiana community is the teen's hometown.
