FINDLAY, Ohio (Indiana's NewsCenter)--Findlay Ohio is cleaning up now that floodwaters are receding there.
Businesses in downtown Findlay are ripping out drenched carpet and vacuuming out what water's left. The Blanchard River runs right through the center of town. It crested at more than five feet above flood stage Tuesday morning. In just the past four years Findlay has suffered three of its worst floods in the town's history and town leaders say its hurting commercial development.
“The number one flood was in august 2007,” says Findlay Mayor Pete Sehnert. “Then we've had the number 3 and the number 5 and the number 8 flood in history all within, from 2008 to now.”
Mayor Pete Sehnert says the corps of engineers will unveil a levy construction plan in September that should relieve part of Findlay’s flooding problems.
