FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching honored IPFW for its work in the Fort Wayne community and around the globe.
To earn the community engagement classification, an institution must prove leadership, resources, and academic practices that benefit its community.
University officials say it has always been a mission to establish strong community engagement.
Former IPFW Vice Chancellor Susan Hannah says, “When Carnegie started doing this in 2006, we thought – “We're already doing this. We should go get credit for it.” I see it as both recognition and reward and a spur to further development at the same time."
IPFW is 1 of 115 colleges and universities being honored nationwide, including seven in the Hoosier state.
