INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Indiana's ACT scores are on the rise in the Hoosier state.
More than 17,000 Hoosiers from the class of 2010 took the ACT.
Indiana students averaged a score of 22.3 out of 36, compared to a national average of 21 out of 36.
That ranks our state in the top 12.
Locally, Huntington North students scored even higher than the state average.
Huntington Schools Superintendent Tracey Shafer says, “We certainly are encouraging students to take more rigorous course work and to challenge themselves with higher level math and higher level science, more years and more work in English and reading and it is encouraging to see those results improve over time.”
Indiana's scores have continuously improved through the past five-years.
Meanwhile, the national average has dipped slightly.
