FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Marlin Stutzman won't have to wait long to start working in Washington, DC.
He was part of the tidal wave of Republicans who won Congressional races on Election Day, beating Democrat Tom Hayhurst 63% to 33% in both 3rd District races on the ballot. That means Stutzman will not only be northeast Indiana's representative in the new term that starts in January, he will also immediately replace former Congressman Mark Souder and finish his term which ends this year. Souder resigned in May after admitting an extramarital affair.
Stutzman will join Congress later this month and serve during the lame-duck session. He has vowed to uphold conservative principles, such as cutting government spending, while in office. He reiterated his aspirations during a live appearance on Indiana's NewsCenter Today.
