According to a USA Today story, former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has a treatable form of lung cancer, his son, Scott, said in a statement on Friday.
In the statement, Scott Paterno says doctors are optimistic the 84-year-old Paterno will "make a full recovery", according to the USA Today report. Paterno was fired last week in the aftermath of a child sex abuse scandal that has implicated former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
