Talk About Sticker Shock: Man Receives $44 Million Hospital Bill

Talk about sticker shock.

According to the New York Daily News, a 28-year-old New York man received quite the surprise recently when he opened his hospital bill from Bronx-Lebanon Hospital: A bill for $44 million.\

Yes, $44 million

The reason for the inflated bill? According to the Daily News story, a subcontractor used by the hospital's billing firm mistakenly put the invoice number in the "amount due" field on the bill. The error affected the bills of several hundred patients, according to the Daily News report.
