According to The Gainesville (Fla.) Sun, a 44-year-old Florida man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly beating his mother and stabbing her with an icepick last Friday.
A police arrest report alleges that the incident was triggered by the mother's refusal to give her son money to buy drugs and alcohol, according to The Gainesville Sun report.
