WASHINGTON (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Millions of Americans will need to delay the filing of their income tax return this year.
Tax law changes enacted by Congress in December mean that many people will need to wait at least another five-weeks to file their returns in order to give the IRS time to re-program its processing systems.
Jeff Sanderson of Baden, Gage, & Schroeder says, “If you itemize your deductions, if you're a teacher that takes education expenses, or if you take any deductions for college tuition, you're really going to have to have your return rejected until this date in Mid-February."
Sanderson says these changes increase the benefits realized from using e-filing as the way to process your return.
