MINNEAPOLIS (www.incnow.tv) - Pauline Friedman Phillips, better known as syndicated advice columnist "Dear Abby" died Tuesday.
She was 94.
Phillips started using the pen name Abigail Van Buren, or "Dear Abby," in 1956 for a regular column in the San Francisco Chronicle.
The "Dear Abby" column would eventually reach national syndication, competing for decades against her twin sister, Ann Landers (nee Esther Friedman Lederer).
In 2000, her daughter, Jeanne Phillips, began co-writing the column, and took over full-time in 2002. Lederer died that year.
Phillips died in Minneapolis of complications from Alzheimer's Disease.
