According to a news release from the National Park Service, a 34-year-old climbing ranger at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington died Thursday afternoon after falling during a rescue attempt
The ranger fell more than 3,000 feet as he was helping to prepare other climbers for an extrication by helicopter, according to the NPS news release.
