The National Rifle Association is calling for armed police officers to be stationed in every school in America following last weeks shooting tragedy in Newtown, Conn.
In a statement released Friday, the NRA stated:
"I call on Congress today to act immediately, to appropriate whatever is necessary to put armed police officers in every school — and to do it now, to make sure that blanket of safety is in place when our children return to school in January."
The NRA is also asking that when students return to school after the holiday break, that school officials "immediately deploy a protection program proven to work".
