Colorado (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - At least 30,000 residents in Colorado Springs, including residents at the United States Air Force Academy, evacuated the area as a wild fire approached the city.
As temperatures reached record highs, authorities in Colorado Springs, Colorado ordered mandatory evacuations of the area.
Officials at the U.S. Air Force Academy ordered a third of the residents to leave the compound as fire crews continue to battle a wildfire near the city.
The good news is winds have died down, and switched directions, blowing away from the city.
But thunderstorms are causing winds to switch directions rapidly.
Lightning from the storms could spark additional fires.
