UNITED STATES (www.incnow.tv) -- A national drug store chain is requiring its employee's to report their weight, body fat levels and glucose levels or else pay a $600 penalty.
A spokesperson for the chain said that the use of health screenings by employer-sponsored health plans is a common practice. He cited a National Business Group on Health survey that shows 79% of employers offered a health assessment in 2011 and 76% of those employers offered incentive for completion. He continues that 62% of large employers offered biometric screenings and 52% of those employers offered incentives for completion.
The company insists that the policy will comply with HIPAA policies and maintain employee privacy. This will impact more than 200,000 employees nationwide.
