NEW YORK (21Alive) - Lauren Bacall, an actress whose career spanned eight decades, died Tuesday.
She was 89.
Bacall died at a New York City hospital after having a stroke earlier in the day, according to the Humphrey Bogart Estate. Bacall was married to Bogart from 1945 to his 1957 death.
Bacall, born Betty Joan Perske in 1924, started her Hollywood career at age 19, starting in 1942's To Have & Have Not. Bacall would act along side Bogart three years before their marriage.
Bacall was nominated for an Oscar in 1996 for Best Supporting Actress in The Mirror Has Two Faces, and would win an honorary Academy Award in 2010.
Bacall is survived by her three children.
