Columbus, Ohio (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - People from miles away could see and feel an explosion caused by a derailed train early Wednesday morning.
Five cars carrying chemicals derailed near the City of Columbus, chemicals like denatured alcohol and styrene, a chemical used to make plastic.
Nearly 100 cars were part of the train that derailed.
Fire officials called for air support to figure out what was burning before fire and hazmat crews attacked from the ground.
Police evacuated people within a one-mile radius and set up a safe area at the Ohio State Fairgrounds.
Residents reported seeing and feeling the explosion from miles away.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
