Undated (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Proctor & Gamble says it will change its package design for its brightly colored laundry detergent pods to help deter children from eating the packets that look like candy.
The Cincinnati-based company plans to create a new double latch lid on tubs of Tide Pods in the next couple of weeks.
Nearly 250 cases have been reported to poison control centers this year, a fraction of the thousands of poisoning calls received every year. No deaths have been reported.
Some children have ingested a high helping of chemicals after biting down on it.
The concentrated laundry detergent packets can cause skin irritation, and if kids put it in their eyes it could affect their vision.
Exposure also causes vomiting, trouble breathing, some have passed out, and two kids had to be put on a ventilator.
There are 25 chemicals in this detergent packet so just imagine what it can do to your stomach.
Tide has a warning label on the bag.
If your child comes in contact with one of these get to your emergency room right away.
