INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – In Wayne Township School, employees involved in duct taping a special needs student’s shoes to her socks have been placed on leave.
8-year-old Shalynn Searcy, who has Down Syndrome, was sent home from her Indianapolis elementary school Monday with the duct taped shoes. Her mother says she has a history of removing her shoes at school, but leaders would call her when there is a problem and she didn’t receive one. The Wayne Township School spokeswoman calls the incident appalling and says an investigation continues.
Searcy is being transferred to another school in the district.
