FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The Alzheimer’s Association hosted what is known as "The Longest Day", a way of raising awareness of the disease during the Summer Solstice.
Volunteers formed teams and engaged in activities such as knitting, singing and dancing, and each person raised $100 to benefit Alzheimer’s research.
“The Longest Day" not only serves as way for others in the community to give donations and learn about the disease, but also to praise the care givers of those afflicted with the daily struggles of Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.
