FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Fort Wayne City officials are reminding everyone of overflow warnings during heavy rain this summer.
The sewers in the city are over 100-years old, and heavy rain can overflow the drains resulting in the discharge of an untreated combination of storm water and sewage into waterways.
Consumption of, or direct contact with, sewage-contaminated water can make you sick.
City officials claim they have projects in the works to improve the waterways to reduce and eliminate this issue.
If you have any questions, contact the Sewer Overflow hotline at (260) 427-2297.
