SPENCERVILLE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A report out of The Star in DeKalb County suggested the Spencerville Covered Bridge could be moved to be made part of a trail system, but the president of the county commissioners says that is not true.
Don Grogg, president of the DeKalb County Commissioners, says the damaged bridge, which has received national attention for its near destruction by a semi-truck driver in September, is not going anywhere.
What could be moved, he says, is an iron bridge over a set of railroad tracks on C.R. 75 in DeKalb County and could be added to the St. Joe River Greenway.
Grogg also says the commissioners continue to work with the insurance company of Gerard Hudson, the man who tried to drive through the Spencerville Covered Bridge, to cover the costs of repairs.
