FAIRVIEW, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- A planned but rare January explosion at an eastern Indiana quarry prompted a lot of calls to law enforcement agencies and media outlets from people who said they heard a loud boom.

A Meshberger Brothers Stone Corporation official says the blast happened at the company's quarry in Fairview about ten miles northeast of Muncie.

He says overcast conditions caused vibrations to bounce off clouds and back to the ground, making the sound heard for miles.
