FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The same trucks used to pick up leaves are also used to plow city streets.
But a snowy December delayed crews from finishing the job on time.
Thursday’s flurries created another small delay.
But workers are back in the central part of the city, picking up leaves.
Fort Wayne Spokesperson Frank Suarez says, “We are in the final phase of leaf pick-up. We're in the central part of the city. We had reached that at the beginning part of December, but because we had some snow, we had to take the trucks off the leaf collection route and convert them with plows and get them to do their other jobs. These trucks are equipped to do both jobs but we have to change out some equipment.”
Crews should finish the rest of the leaf pick-ups by next week, weather permitting.
