FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Joseph Kast's mental health took center stage in the fourth day of his Allen County murder trial.
Kast stands accused of killing 85-year old Claude Berkshire in the garage of his Juliette Avenue home in 2002.
The court introduced witnesses after the prosecution and defense rested with their own and Kast denied testifying.
The first witness was a psychiatrist who examined Kast back in March. He claimed Kast was legally insane at the time of the alleged murder. He added Kast could have been suffering from Schizophrenia and was unable to test reality.
The second witness contradicted the first. The clinical psycologist who also examined Kast, said he was sane and competent at the time of the murder and was able to determine right from wrong.
Two more witnesses were called in the afternoon, they both said that an official diagnoses can not be made unless Kast talks about the day of the murder, which he avoided when being examined.
Closing arguments will begin Friday morning.
