I&M Sends More Than 300 Workers to East Coast

Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Hurricane Sandy may be over but the clean up is only just getting underway. Millions of people are still without power along the East Coast and many Hoosiers have been sent to help restore power.

Indiana Michigan Power sent more than 300 local workers to New York, New Jersey and West Virginia.

The major problem causing these widespread outages is the flooded underground power systems. Right now the local utility workers who specialize in repairing these grids are in New York and New Jersey.

Officials with Indiana Michigan Power say getting the underground power systems back online is a priority because it connects to so many people.

While some are in New York and New Jersey the majority of these workers are in West Virginia securing down power lines and replacing damaged polls.
