FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Friday is "Forward Friday."
The wristbands are a reminder to "Keep your eyes forward" when behind the wheel. We've partnered up with Lutheran Health, Lucky Harley Davidson, and the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana to remind you to ignore those texts and other distraction while you're driving.
Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person's attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety.
The NHTSA states that there are three main types of distractions:
1. Manual: Taking your hands off of the wheel.
2. Visual: Taking your eyes off of the road.
3. Cognitive: Taking your mind off of the road.
:fwd (Eyes Forward) is designed to bring awareness to the dangers of inattentive driving in our community and encourage participation in a voluntary promise to avoid dangerous driving practices while behind the wheel.
