FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Navistar International continues to shrink its local presence.
By the end of the year the number of people in Fort Wayne on the company's payroll will be down to 20. It was once 1,400. The corporation is moving to Chicago and about 250 employees accepted transfers to the Windy City. The 1,100 remaining employees have been forced into unemployment or early retirement.
Those left after December will man the company's test track on Oxford Street in Fort Wayne. Navistar makes commercial and military trucks as well as school and commercial buses.
