BICKNELL, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A simple "thank you,” were the two words that started a mission for a retired Navy veteran.

Until a few years ago, Charlie Peters didn't have a desire to share the events of his past. That is until a complete stranger said five simple words, “thank you for your service."

That led Peters to take a cross-country trek, inspiring others to thank our nation's veterans. So far, he's traveled 400 mi. right into Bicknell, Ind.

While his trip may seem unplanned, Peters isn't wandering. He says his final destination lies another 700 miles away.

"I'll go to Oklahoma to my dad's gravesite, he's a World War II vet, and I'll say, ‘thank you for your service, pap.’ It'll very emotional, very emotional. I'd rather do it by myself, no one around, but…I miss him a lot,” said Peters.

After visiting his father’s grave, Peters says he’s not sure what he’ll do next.
