FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - It was a big step forward for Science Central Thursday when they announced they are preparing to bring in a new exhibit. The local attraction is working to bring in a $1.5 million exhibit to teach kids about the atmosphere and the earth.
Science on a Sphere was created by NOAA. It helps teach people about the earth and atmosphere. It can show real time satellite images of weather, images of the moon and even show natural disasters that have happened on earth, like tsunamis.
So far Science Central has raised $1.3 million, including a $500,000 donation from The American Electric Power Foundation. Science Central hopes to raise the remaining $200,000 needed and have the exhibit open by 2013.
They are working to get more grants and are also asking the community to donate. Donation requests start at $50 and go up to $1,000.
