INDIANAPOLIS (www.incnow.tv) – Two paramedics are dead after a car slammed into an ambulance in Indianapolis Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 3:30 Saturday morning when the ambulance was heading southbound on Senate Avenue. Police say the ambulance was not on an emergency call and had the right of way at the time of the crash.

A black Honda ran a red light and slammed into the ambulance knocking it on its side, and trapping the two paramedics.

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old female, was taken to the hospital for a blood test. An officer says he detected the smell of alcohol on her breath.

The driver of the ambulance, 24-year-old Timothy McCormick, and Eagle Scout from New York, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say 22-year-old Cody Medley died from his injuries early Sunday morning at an Indianapolis hospital.

The funeral services for Private McCormick will include public visitation at Crown Hill Cemetery from 4-8 p.m. Monday with a Catholic Mass Service Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

The funeral services for Specialist Medley are still being finalized.

Wednesday at 10 a.m. there will be a public safety memorial held at Clowes Memorial Hall on the campus of Butler University. This is open to the public.
