FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - This month, we honor a special Fort Wayne woman who spent her life going The Extra Mile.
We lost Joan Uebelhoer in September.
She was 83.
Uebelhoer was best known as a women's rights advocate in the city and also championed for the rights of the poor.
She taught at IPFW for three decades, touching countless young lives.
Uebelhoer served as Allen County auditor and also served Planned Parenthood and the Division of Family and Children.
She also helped to create SCAN or Stop Child Abuse and Neglect.
HearCare Audiology sponsors The Extra Mile.
This very special nomination came from staff member, Angelina, who had Uebelhoer as a teacher.
