FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Traffic was backed up for a bit in downtown Fort Wayne after a crash.

It happened just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 4th and Clinton, near the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge.

Police say a white van pulling a boat was headed southbound on Clinton, when a red SUV heading east on 4th ran into it.

The impact sent the white van into a guard rail and it ended up on the sidewalk. Police say it was not close to going into the St. Mary’s river.

Police say the drivers told them they were trying to time the lights to make it through the intersection.

Both drivers walked away from the scene with minor injuries.
