USF Students Do Community Service For Martin Luther King Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Students and faculty at the University of Saint Francis are spending the holiday serving others.

Instead of going to class, they're participating in community service projects, like at the Charis House Shelter for Homeless Women and Children.

The students spent time with the kids while their mothers had their hair and nails done.

St. Francis Junior, Caitlyn Bailey says, “We have the day off today, but we've been told all semester that we need to give back to the community. Just because it's a day off doesn't mean we can't give back to our community, to Fort Wayne."

The students also organized a blood drive on the USF campus, and are spending their time at other shelters and food banks.
