FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – Wishes do come true as more than 500 people gathered downtown Fort Wayne for a walk to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

The “Walk for Wishes" event kicked off from Parkview Field Saturday morning. Participants could either walk a one mile route or a three mile route through downtown. It was all to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Officials with the foundation say by granting these wishes, the children are filled with hope, strength and joy.

“I wish to meet, I wish to go, I wish to be, and I wish to have. So our children can wish for whatever they want, and it helps them to get through whatever they're battling and just continue on and live the lives that they want to,” said Kelsey Leichtnam, Development Associate with Make-A-Wish.

Make-A-Wish of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana is the largest of the 63 chapters nationwide in terms of wishes granted and children waiting for their wish to come true. Indiana currently has more than 200 children waiting to receive their wishes. Make-A-Wish raised more than $28,000 Saturday.
