FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - AWP Sports Performance held a grand opening Saturday to show off the company's new facilities inside SportONE/Parkview Field House.
The open house was as an opportunity for the public to see the state-of-the-art training equipment AWP uses; and gave aspiring athletes to give it their best shot under the watchful eyes of the staff.
"We're getting them use to the standardized testing for an athlete," Michael Ledo, president & CEO of AWP, says. "If you're a too slow or a little too weak, they're not going to give you the scholarship that you're looking for. What we're doing is getting kids used to that at a very young age.
Ledo says AWP's move is not only a celebration of how far the company has come, but shows the importance of athletic development.
