(Fort Wayne) - DeShaun Thomas' 32 points could not save Bishop Luers at South Side Friday night, as the Archers used balanced scoring to win a key 58-56 victory in the Summit Athletic Conference league opener for both teams.

JerMichael Williams led that balanced effort with 14 points, while Lamont Prosser added 13 and Tracey Underwood 12.

In the girls game, South's pressure defense forced numerous Luers turnovers as the Archers claimed a 76-59 win.

Sydney Weinert led the way with 22 points, while Shavonda Price chipped in 19.

Kelsey Wyss shined in defeat for Luers with 30, while Amanda Pedro added 21.
