MIAMI, Fla. (www.incnow.tv) - Six weeks after officially getting their destination to the BCS National Championship, Notre Dame and Alabama will meet Monday night for all of college football's marbles.
Fort Wayne's connections to the Irish--and this title game--has been well documented. Irish tight end Tyler Eifert, wide receiver John Goodman and defensive lineman Tony Springmann all played for Bishop Dwenger before heading to South Bend.
A large Fort Wayne contingency, most with ties to Dwenger, were tailgating outside Sun Life Stadium hours before the game.
"This happens once in a lifetime," Bishop Dwenger head football coach Chris Svarczkopf says. "They're three awesome guys. They stand for everything that's good. We're very proud of them."
Hear more about the the Dwenger graduates' journey to South Bend on 21Alive's Notre Dame BCS Pregame Show at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
